The colour of crime gets a rare mention in Britain

A dog walker made no attempt to stop his pet savaging a 34-year-old woman in the street, police have said. The woman was left with serious leg injuries after the dog attacked her in Roseberry Street, Liverpool. The dog, which was believed to be a Staffordshire bull terrier or a pit bull terrier, was one of two being walked by the man, Merseyside Police said. A police spokesman appealed for information from the public over the attack. He said the man was described as black, 6ft and aged in his late teens or early 20s. One of the dogs was described as tan-coloured while the other was black, he added.

Man held over ‘firearms’ incident

Armed police were called out in Harrogate when a gun was allegedly used during an assault.

No shots were fired during the incident at the back of Mayfield Grove near the town centre on Saturday afternoon.

Police said a white man in his 20s was treated in hospital after reportedly being attacked by a group of Asian men.

Witnesses said they saw a handgun but no weapon was found. A middle-aged man arrested after the fracas remains in custody at Harrogate Police Station.

North Yorkshire Police want to speak to any witnesses to the assault or anyone who can help them trace two men in their 20s of Asian appearance, one stocky and one thin.

They also want to find a green or gold-coloured hatchback car which was spotted near the scene of the incident.

On the other hand this strange story has gone very quiet. There was an update yesterday naming the two dead men, one of them a non-English name. Greater Manchester Police’s website doesn’t feature the story.
