A post about a post.

Good.  Good.

No losing of cool John.  You keep on behaving as I wish - even when I openly tell you that you are doing so.

Amusing.

John how does that 43-yr-old auto look so brand-new?  Did you acquire it looking like that, or are you one of these antique car buffs who buys them in bad condition, and fixes them up to look and run like new, enjoys driving them a while, then sells them for a fortune in profit?  (Or is that a very old photo?)  Do you drive it regularly?  How does it run?  Do you dare drive it far?  Are there problems with that ancient engine?  I’m not at all a car buff, new or old, but I must say that looks a gorgeous vehicle.  I’ve never heard of the Humber Super Snipe—or even the Humber.  Is Humber an Aussi make, or English?  (The name sounds English to me.)  I bet it’s a gas guzzler, though (as they say in the States)—relatively few miles to the gallon.  Speaking of which, do you buy gas in gallons down there, or quarts as the Europeans do (liters)?  Do you think Oz will change to right-hand-lane driving as Britain and I believe Sweden have done?  (Or maybe you’ve already changed—forgive me if you have:  I don’t keep up so well with many sorts of current events.)  Interesting photo—thanks for posting it.

Given the relative affluence of the gentleman in studied pose who adorns the first photograph, might the purchase of a more expensive and effective hair dye seem out of the question?

Is OH some sort of obsessive attempting to perfect the art of harassment or waging an amateur psyops campaign to drive out JJR? And vice versa?

Fred - Humber was a British car builder but became part of Chrysler at some point and the name died out.

In Australia they drive on the left still - as we do here in Britain, to try and force a change like that would guarantee the demise of the EU in the UK!

Sweden did switch from left to right some years ago but there were far fewer cars then. I think it would be very costly now anywhere to change.

Fred
I bought the Humber off a family that had had it since new and they spent thousands keeping it like new.  It seems to get about 30mpg but has no power steering, weight 3 tons (I think) so is pretty hard to handle at low speeds.  It’s my “outing” car.  It goes well after it has warmed up but takes about 5 minutes to warm up.

Best

My hair was not dyed in that photo and still is not—even though it is a lot greyer now

Or perhaps he is simply trying to find a venue for his unique style of staccato, rhyme-less poetry?

“Or perhaps he is simply trying to find a venue for his unique style of staccato, rhyme-less poetry?”

Alex, do you really wish to start asking questions of this nature?

“Is OH some sort of obsessive attempting to perfect the art of harassment or waging an amateur psyops campaign to drive out JJR?”

No.

Simply put, I see JJR’s posts and comments as destructive to this blog; therefore I wish to see more of such posts and comments.

Since I understand that openly stating that will not in any way alter JJR’s pattern in this regard, I thought I’d just clear that up for you.

Now, may you tell us *your* purpose here?

This Lurker didnt write that, so will the new one either f**k off or opt for a different handle.

Will the new Lurker change his pen name so as not to cause confusion?  Clearly, an important part of following these threads is knowing who’s talking.

Thanks Fred, I dont see why my ironic ‘name’ should be open to general use any more than anyone else’s.

I’ve been Lurker on boards since before broadband was invented, so up yours, Junior Lurker.

Especially if you’re a fan of the Aussie crap pedlar.

Since the imitation Lurker has about 100 different handles he uses at Harry’s Place (and he must be in double figures for aliases here), it does seem perverse for him to nick another posters moniker from this site.

“I’ve been Lurker on boards since before broadband was invented, so up yours, Junior Lurker.”

Maybe so, but not on this one.

If I went to another site and happened upon another ‘Lurker’ there then I would use another name, that would be the polite thing to do. Unless I was some sort of troll intent on causing problems.
