I’m as fond of indulging in a little light invective as the next bloke, but do agree that occasionally the aggro here does get a little OTT. It’s sometimes hard to remember that we’re all fundamentally on the same side, and it’s the means rather than the ends that usually create the friction.

That said, I’m sure we can rely on our Dear Mods to keep the lightest of hands on the tiller, and I welcome this development.

Well, in the instance of Silver vs. JWH (now Ted Sallis at TOQ and OO), no.  If “trolls” and “mental defectives” had been banned then, JWH probably could have been coaxed back into the mix.  Personally I don’t see what the big deal was.  I never felt like punching through a wall when insulted by Silver, in fact I got a chuckle out of it.  Also, Silver was the one who got me to consider the merits of Nordicism.

Speaking of Silver, he’s posted the official new version of the Pledge of Allegiance over at his blog.  Here it is:

”I pledge indifference to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it used to stand: one nation under Z.O.G., divided beyond hope of redemption, with liberty and justice for all but the progeny of the founding stock whose posterity it was intended to secure.”

(To non-Yanks:  the Pledge of Allegiance used to be recited every morning at the opening of the school day by pupils throughout the United States, no exceptions anywhere (I don’t know if it still is).  It was recited by all the pupils in every classroom at the same time, the pupils standing, facing the Stars and Stripes that was hung in every classroom above the blackboard in front of the room or which was on a large flag pole standing in one of the two front corners of the classroom, each pupil placing his right hand over his heart as he spoke:  “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”  Every American knows that by heart (except maybe the youngest generation who are coming up now, I don’t know if the [fill in the blank] ________ revolt that began in the “Sixties” has completely done away with that yet or not; if not yet, it’s certainly on their agenda.)

I was born in ‘83. Dropped out as a sophomore in high school. I only recited the pledge up until high school.

This is a great development, as it will maintain this great site’s reputation of intellectual discussion. It should also promote traffic, in the long-term.

As another of my long-time admirers, the estimable Mr. Scrooby, mentioned, the wise men of days [enough!] gone by once understood and appreciated the value of civic incantations in instilling a sense of civic pride.  I’m not an American so in my younger da… when I was younger… they had me both imploring YHWH to save Her Majesty as well as advancing an Australia so fair.  And to an extent it worked.  So I’m only too happy to have helped turn you the dark side (Nordicism, Cap).  Why?  Because in the real world getting what you want by helping the other fellow get what he wants is considered a congenial way of getting ahead in life.

But I’m puzzled as to how you manage to thank me for that and in the same breath blame me for my role (as the legend grows) in running the Rienzi off the board—Rienzi and nordicism is like—pardon the analogy—oil and water.

It would be such an effective way to turn people off White activism (i.e. sending in someone to post divisive commentary intended to poison the atmosphere), that I’m surprised it doesn’t happen more often.  I have to say that I always found MR, on the whole, to be fairly civil, though there have been a few threads of late that became saturated in venom.

In any case, I’m a firm believer in heavy-handed moderation. Either you contribute something substantive or get out. When one has to waste time defending against various trolls, it detracts from the overall quality of discussion (hence the reason trolls come to begin with).

If that’s accurate, that it’s been shut down and isn’t down due to some glitch, it’s ominous news, as Mangan’s was one of the mildest (if not THE mildest) anti-race-replacement blogs on the internet.  I suspect it’s down due to some glitch.  (Or maybe Mangan himself took it down?)

I’d only visited Mangan’s a few times, but, yeah, it seemed quite mild.  The Irish Savant (also on blogger, but requiring acknowledgement that content is controversial) is, I think, at least as ‘hateful’ as Mangan’s.  Mangan’s also had a lot of interesting non-racial content.  If it wasn’t his decision, I’m willing to bet he’ll become more radical as a result of this.

That is ominous, if not self-inflicted, as Mangan’s was quite tame. There was a lot of race talk, more so e.g., than the Savant, so that might have been a factor.

Silver’s a bit of a nut but he has occasional flashes of brilliance, like this.  The other example I read recently was along similar lines, a parody of some kind that escapes my memory at the moment.

Good policy GW.  Unfettered free speech usually degenerates to the level of the culture it comes from which in the case of the current West is toxic.  I’m actually surprised MR hasn’t degraded a lot more due to the previous hands-off policy.
