French Jews Feel Abandoned. Tension in Suburbs

Today the French authorities closed down the website of “Tribu Ka”, a group of French black Muslims. The website contained anti-Semitic texts [some of which are quoted here]. Last Sunday evening about thirty members of Tribu Ka, armed with bats and sticks, staged a march through the Rue de Rosiers in the historic Jewish quarter of Paris, shouting “Death to Jews” and “Let the Jews fight us if they dare!”

Tensions between black Muslim immigrants and French Jews have been rising since another black gang, who call themselves “the Barbarians,” kidnapped Ilan Halimi, a 21-year old Jew, last February. Halimi was tortured for three weeks and subsequently murdered. Youssouf Fofana, the imprisoned leader of the gang that murdered Halimi, is acclaimed as a hero by groups such as Tribu Ka. Tribu Ka was founded by Kami Saba [Kémi Séba], a black Parisian who says he has been inspired by the Black Muslims in the United States.

What would the jewish strategy become in France if Muslims made their life TOTALLY unbearable there?  Would they fight on their own, side with ethnic French people in nationalists-type movements, fight for some kind of pseudo-communist, central-dictatorship-type governemnt, or run to another country?  This is a key-question because it paints a picture of our relationship with jews.  I am guessing it will be a combination of all of the above with option (b) given the least effort.  I think somewhere deep inside west European conservatives and even some nationalists are hoping that jews will one day join them their struggle.  There are many reasons why this will not happen to any greater effect than keeping an eye and influence on these Euro-ethnic movements (with maverick-like exceptions).  If we want freedom and self-detemination, we will have to do it on our own.

I know one Jew who has decidedly thrown his lot in with us. Another is perhaps on his way. I think the hopes Tom refers to are fairly justified.

Brimelow’s Vdare piece, today, ref’s an earlier entry by Auster. Even more interesting than the Auster piece was correspondence from a Toronto Jew Paul T. who wrote,

Beautifully put. My grandparents were Russian and Polish Jews who came here (i.e., to Toronto, Canada) between 1908-1923, and I’ve often found myself asking the same thing. In fact, awkward as this is to confess, I’ve increasingly asked myself whether Jewish immigration was on the whole a good or bad thing for Canada and the U.S., and I am coming around to the view that the negatives have outweighed the positives. Is there really any other way of seeing it? Another question which might appeal to alternate-history buffs is: if we hadn’t been allowed in, would North America be a liberal society today?

Auster does his usual dissembling writing,

Thanks. However, the way I’ve put it is not that America would have been better off without the 1880-1920 immigration, but that the 1921 and 1924 legislation cutting back the immigration was beneficial. this is a statement that there is such a thing as too many.

And then Paul T. comes back hard,

I don’t doubt that, but it doesn’t deal with the problem of those who were already here. Folks like my cousin J.B. Salsberg, the only Communist member of the Ontario legislature, elected time and again in the (overwhelmingly Jewish) Spadina riding. As late as 1955 (not a typo) J.B. was openly praising Stalin in his speeches. I was brought up to believe that the mostly genteel anti-Semitism of non-Jews in Toronto was nothing more than pure, spontaneous malice. Some of it undoubtedly was, but I can see the other side of it now.

Double wow.

I think a jew who comes around to Paul’s kind of thinking is essentially no longer a jew.  I don’t mean that at all as a way to avoid recognizing a jew as being honest and forthright, but rather that it’s so rare, and so radical a position for a jew, and so opposed to the jewish party line that it’s tantamount to apostasy.  Paul’s gone where making being a man more important than being a jew takes all jews.  It’s unfortunate that so few end up there.  He’s gone beyond being a righteous jew (Auster, Shahak, Levin, Savage).

I sometimes imagine being a jew who knows what we know.  I have little doubt that I’d think of myself as a jewish apostate, and that I would no longer refer to myself as a jew.
