Drew Fraser, Part IIJames has recorded a second interview with Prof Fraser, now uploaded to the Radio page. It is long (meaning highly informative): 92min 53 sec. File size 85MB. Posted by Guessedworker on Friday, March 9, 2007 at 03:42 AM in MR Radio Comments:2
Posted by Guessedworker on March 09, 2007, 08:50 AM | # Have you listened to it? Of the 92 min and 52 sec, the last 90 minutes are an exploration of thinking through many issues, some of which, though interconnected, lie outside Drew’s customary stamping ground. Obviously, 90 minutes of deep intellectual exploration go far beyond the original brief. But, to my mind, it a superb utilisation of the technology and of this platform, and offers analyses of utility to anyone gifted with the gateway 124 IQ. Drew will be back at some point, I hope, to discuss what then will be his newly completed and published book. Meanwhile, “Wallaby”, please accept the efforts being made in good faith and with gratitude by both Soren and James. They are being made for you, after all. 3

It then follows that, as the “consumer”, members of that audience have a legitimate right to comment on the utility of each broadcast, suitability of guest, performance of interviewer, etc. The ultimate arbiter of “quality control” for this project is feedback from the audience, which includes MR regulars such as Guessedworker himself. Comments made during both the von Hoffmeister and Fraser I interviews suggest the possibiity that this feedback is not always welcomed. 4

Posted by Jim West on March 09, 2007, 03:17 PM | # I have enjoyed the broadcast immensely. The only criticism I would have, and I believe the host is aware of this, is to allow the guest more time to comment and to deemphasoze the opinion of the host. I would suggest watching some Brian Lamb interviews on c-span to see a pro in action, particularly the show “Booknotes”. Overall though, well done and keep up the excellent work. The world is desperate for this kind of information. 6

I spent about 10 hours total preparing for and post-producing that (due to an echo artifact I had to manually edit out of my track). Soren got me off to a good start with some software to record and edit digital conversations. We have no funding for any of this. 7
Posted by Fred Scrooby on March 09, 2007, 05:51 PM | # I thought it was an excellent interview, and of course Jim West is right when he says, “The world is desperate for this kind of information.” I predict these Majority Radio shows will reach a very wide audience. 8

But I thought that you might enjoy this: From the desk of The Brussels Journal on Fri, 2007-03-09 12:56 A quote from A. Miller at Takimag.com, 7 March 2007 You will imagine how delighted I was recently when I discovered that I myself have become a member of an ethnic minority, and, better still, have joined the lofty likes of the “aborigine Australian” and the “native American;” yes, I am no longer British, but am rather “Indigenous British.” How did I discover this? By cracking some Davinci Code like puzzle? No, I simply kept hearing this strange phrase, “indigenous British,” on B.B.C radio. It flowed so naturally, and from so many different types of people, but I wondered if I had heard correctly at first. Perhaps they had said “ingenious British.” True, it is an unusual day indeed, when the British are praised by the people of Britain, but still I wondered. To confirm I entered the phrase into the B.B.C. website, and lo and behold, there I was! Indigenous-British-me. My outlook on life has been entirely altered. Naturally, I am sad that I shall not live to see the reservations or casinos that will undoubtedly be granted to our descendants by a future British government, though I am looking forward to the revival of our culture, albeit on a smaller scale. Is the existence of an allegedly “informative” Fraser II a tacit admission that Fraser I was not informative and, hence, a failure?
