Disappearing Britain - New Labour’s pet Project gathers steamAnother news story points to a deeply worrying trend in British national life: New Labour’s slow abolition of our nation’s borders. It is a trend egged-on by all too many insistent and sometimes powerful voices. Fire is returned by some who can actually speak to government and by some who definitely can’t. But the trend continues. In America, of course, all this is passé. A purported right-wing conservative President seems bent on incorporating all of Latin America into the United States (not the geographical areas mind you, only its wretched poor). At the heart of New Labour we have Mr Bush’s best buddy. Blair looks more and more like a Neo-Conservative (a British variant at any rate): Open Borders, Multiculturalism, Diversity and a Middle East war for Israel – it’s a nice, neat package gift-wrapped as a “caring” government of all the people. In caring terms, though, immigration is not a zero sum game. It has its casualties, chiefly the members of the British working classes who, once their areas are settled by immigrants, are incapable of embracing the diversity. These were once the very people whose cause Labour existed to champion. Of whom can that be said today, other than immigrants, homosexuals, feminists and single mothers and all the assorted “Society Guardian” beneficiaries of middle-class taxation? Of these the only significant political constituency by size is immigrants. Immigration to Britain has skyrocketed since 1997. The reasons most commonly given, which you may not consider the whole story, are:- In the absence of serious opposition from the Tories these assumptions go largely unchallenged at Westminster. Therefore, the motives – the real ones – that underlie the whole process go unexamined also. Labour is able to drive forward this part of its Project with impunity and with all the more venomous force. Only Sir Andrew Green’s Migrationwatch UK provides an authoritative and independent assessment of the given raisons d’etre for New Labour’s immigration boom. It isn’t that difficult. MajorityRights.com can do it, too! Complete control of borders may be impossible. But tight control isn’t. Economic growth does not depend on low-IQ immigration, which is what we are getting – quite the contrary. Britain’s public services would not grind to a halt if they were privatised and workers properly incentivised. An ageing population cannot be sustained by low-IQ immigrants (even the UN admits that now!), not least since they also age. Who will support them? Yet more immigrants, I presume. It’s a nonsense. But given reasons aside, what on earth is it that is driving the extraordinary, even fundamentalist radicalism of New Labour’s Project? It seems to me that at its heart is the belief that there is something abhorrent about a white Anglo-Saxon Britain attached to its roots. Such an entity is differentiated and bound by tradition and blood. These things New Labour deplores as seats of oppression and, therefore inequality. The unequal cannot be free. Thus it is that our nation must be abolished step by step – and we should not recoil from this process. We should embrace it and rejoice in it. For, in the insane ideology of the New Labour bigot, the act of destroying the racial and cultural means by which we chain others sets both them and us free. So rejoice, my brothers and sisters. For thou art freed from thyself by the good vicar Blair. Of course, it needs to be noted that The Project is not only culture war. It is race war. It will alter the population of England, particularly, but increasingly the rest of these islands beyond recognition. The Post-Nation will be held together not be anything real but by “ideas” like civic duty, tolerance and equality. Or so they think. Actually, since the new “Britons” are Moslems, Afro-Caribbeans and black Africans it will not be held together at all. So what will it take to stop Blair? Perhaps nothing can. He has engaged in a phenomenal amount of destruction in a very short time and got away with it, electorally speaking. Polls show that he remains the politician supposedly “closest” to the majority of voters by popularity and by political orientation. But he is dreadfully craven about public opinion. On the linked issues of immigration and asylum it is turning. In a Daily Mail poll some 46% of respondents, when asked to choose issues that are most important for this country, selected immigration and asylum seekers - second only to health. Fully 80% think the government policies on immigration and asylum are not tough enough and say the government is not open and honest about the problem. By two to one, they reject the propositions that Britain needs more immigrants - even with skills - and that immigration improves the country’s cultural life. This slow but certain sea-change in public opinion is the only chink of light. But let’s not forget how few in this country have ever approved or even understood Blair’s bizarre policies, of which Iraq and immigration are but the most egregious examples. He has been able to count on that ignorance. He has been able to count on the debilitated state of Her Majesty’s Opposition. He has been able to count on a largely supine broadcast media. He has been able to escape almost all accountability thus far and carry on with his radical agenda as the “caring” face before the TV cameras. He should have been skewered intellectually years ago and his politics exposed for what they are. What an extraordinary failure of the right this Fake’s Progress implies.

Posted by Phil on December 19, 2004, 02:52 PM | # Geoff, you are most right. This is one issue where I think, again, the Anglo-Saxon world (with Australia possibly an exception) seems to be worse off than the nations in Continental Europe. If a government in Austria were doing this (or say, Switzerland), it would have been out of office by now. 3
Posted by Geoff M. Beck on December 19, 2004, 03:34 PM | # Hello Phil: Yes. The Anglo-Saxon (or formerly Anglo-Saxon) countries have had the wonderful concepts of fairness and toleration turned on their heads. Now tolerance and fairness are weapons with which hostile factions are using against the greater public. I see the US sinking under the quicksand before Britain, though. I think you’ll be attending our wake. Say a prayer for us, your rebellious cousin. 4
Posted by Phil Peterson on December 19, 2004, 03:50 PM | # Geoff, Yes America is far deeper in the mire than we are. But the point really is not one of degree - our Politicians are making the same mistakes and we as a people are making the same mistakes that Americans have made before. As much as I am saddened by the state of America, it would provide me with some solace if we were to learn from your country’s mistakes. But we seem not to. I think the greatest problem really is that the US media’s (and by that I mean not just News reportage but Films/Music/ideas that are the beloved of nation-hating Journalistic classes) reach is greatest in the “Anglosphere” - the logical consequence of affinities of customs and langauge. Therefore, the worst and most destructive fads that catch on in the United States invariably end up here too. It has long been my opinion that the Nations that insulate themselves the greatest from American culture are the ones likely to last the longest. And I think the Eastern Europeans and to some extent the Central Europeans will probably hold out the longest in Europe because they appear to be, for the moment at least, relatively impervious to the poison that America produces 24/7. 5
Posted by Geoff M. Beck on December 19, 2004, 06:04 PM | # Hello Phil: I agree with your assesment, but would like to add an important caveat. The country that I was born into 40 years ago isn’t the same country I live in now. What you, we, are seeing and deploring ISN’T AMERICAN CULTURE. What you see is a virus that first appeared in the USA, devoured our nation and it is now seeking new hosts anywhere it can find a suitable petri dish. I suppose we, the Americans, are at fault for not implementing propery HYGIENE, that is true. We failed to respond to the danger and look what happened. The barbarians could never have sacked Rome in 120 AD; Rome, however, was vulnerable in 400 AD. Was the Rome of Scipio Africanus, Cato, Cicero, or even Augustus the same Rome as Commodus, Diocletian, or Constantine? The latter grouping invited the barbarians to encamp over the Danube - fatal mistake. Now we are inviting the Barbarians to encamp o’er the Rio Grande. 6
Posted by Phil on December 19, 2004, 08:27 PM | # Geoff, I apologise for not being specific enough. I still watch the older American films - some of which shall remain etched in the memory for their sheer quality. I still watch Jimmy Stewart, John Wayne, Cary Grant and Gregory Peck. I am amazingly, for someone my age, a fan of good Westerners (I like watching “High Noon”, believe it or not). It truly was a different America. Buchanan sketches that America in such vivid colours in his writings. It is not my case that we Europeans do not produce filth today. We do. Look at what passes for contemporary British “culture” for example or the state of the arts, our music and our tastes. Read our Tabloids sometime. The problem is of course that America because of its size and resources has the capacity to penetrate much more than we do. If some Norwegian moron produces a sick music video it doesn’t go very far first because its in a language no one understands (except Norwegians) and second because his resources are TINY. America on the other hand delivers breathtaking power to the owners of MTV and Time Warner to spew out filth across the whole Earth (and they do - with great diligence. Whole generations of kids even in places like Thailand are now growing up on the sewer of that modern music). 7
Posted by Geoff M. Beck on December 19, 2004, 10:23 PM | # Completely agree. Futhermore it is time America looks at itself honestly, and stops blathering the triumphalist rhetoric. 8
Posted by Guessedworker on December 22, 2004, 06:07 AM | # Geoff, The problem with America looking at itself, in terms of mainstream journalistic output and the output of film, popular music and pornography is that the sector of American society from which these toxins arise is a protected species. Only WN’s can name it but in the act of doing so immediately place themselves beyond the hearing of their kin. There are many steps to be taken before 9

What’s stunning about this issue is the unDemocratic element - as you illustrate.
Speaking for the United States, but likely true for Britain, the citizenry opposes open borders, wants aliens deported, and businesses which hire illegals punished.
Instead the entire political class is in opposition to the will of its citizenry. A complete failure of representative government.
