A strange thing

I have a confession to make.  When I put up posts here which aim lightning bolts at the hearts of other people who frequent this blog, I generally do so with the assistance of Mr Walker—Johnny Walker to be precise.  Red label only, I regret to say.  Although I am as rich as Croesus (sort of) my Presbyterian origins bar me from exploring the delights of black label.

What Mr Walker and I have been thinking about in the last hour or so is however a distinct oddity.  I contribute daily to 11 blogs:  Eight blogs of my own plus three group blogs—with this blog being in the latter category.  So I am clearly the maddest blogger there is.  Yet, of all the blogs, I feel most at home on this one!  Which is pretty crazy.  I am used to being abused.  Leftists abuse me all the time.  But on this blog I get heaps of really SERIOUS abuse.  Leftist abuse is just a laugh.  It is just an emotional and scatological outpouring without a shred or argument or reason to it.  But here I get carefully reasoned and extensively referenced abuse.  Commenters here PROVE that I am all wrong!

And I think that is what I like.  Abuse has never bothered me in the slightest.  I suspect that I was born “with the hide of a rhinocerous”.  But talking to people who are willing to go out on a limb and defend logically a very deviant position is a great pleasure to me.  I feel that I am among real people when that happens.

Johnnie Walker Red Label was the favourite tipple of Clyde shipyard workers who liked the fiery bite of the dram and would not have thanked you for the smoother texture of Black, far less the Gold or Blue label variants encountered at places like Changi airport. Anyway there is no such thing as a bad Scotch, but some,of course, are better than others.

Regarding the ‘very deviant position’ calumny, were John Ray to type “what famous people said about Jews” into Google,  he would encounter an interesting cross-section of European race-realists whose sentiments, echoed here in impressive style, span the ages.

John, won’t you acknowledge the debt you owe to Fred for setting the friendly and good humoured yet rigorously constructive tone of opposition to you here?

I am sure he would likewise acknowledge that a day without a JJR post to chew on is a day without sunshine.  And he would not be alone.

The serious point is, I suppose, that principled opposition does not preclude admiration and even affection.  As a “deviant positionalist”, however (and please note, dear MR readers, that said deviance refers purely to politics) I would like to think that occasionally one or two of the arguments you encounter here effect a little adjustment to the Ray worldview, with or without the influence of the excellent Mr Walker.

How like a Jew to start a dialog by declaring all opposition to be “a very deviant position.” The ploy of pathologizing contrary opinion is central to Jewish agitprop.

JJR-I KNEW there was a reason I understood most of your posts—I.m a heavy Scotch drinker myself, and am usually “topped off” when I comment.Like you,I find this[MR] the most interesting of blogs, with varied viewpoints not degrading into “pissing contests”,as do so many others. I,also like you,[I think],do not place Jews in the “top three"enemies list. With me,it’s blacks who want the benifits of the plantation, without having to work;the Mexicans, who do want to work, but expect the taxpayers to pick the social services tab [while sending $B20 home each year],and the Muslims, who reside in a totally different aura of reality-I.ve worked in Iran,Iraq,Saudi, and Sudan, and know first-hand the mindsets of these who are ruled by fanatically religious immans, not governed by ANY form of secular principle.

The last time I had any alcohol was in 2001. I might be excommunicated by the English nation on that ground alone. (chuckle)

Heavy drinkers are a pleasure to listen to though. Once the alcohol starts to work its magic, the tongues loosen and wag with remarkable freedom. Back when I used to drink, I might have said some of the most notoriously un-PC things imaginable and elicited no more than uproarious laughter. Had they not been drunk…........smile

One feels that one ought to have more affection for JJR than one does. Odd, really.

Well I think there are two different things here.

One is political argument which an area that seprates JJR and us most of the time.

The second is the question of what JJR (or anyone else for that matter regardless of their opinions) is like as a person. And regardless of all the disagreements and the “abuse” as he puts it (though I never abused him - or anyone else for that matter), he is a great bloke and fantastic to have around.

That is a lesson I have learnt with time. You’ve got to keep your political opinions and your personal relations in separate compartments. My girlfriend for the last four years is very liberal, for example. But we have been together regardless of politics. Some of my best friends are liberals to the point of being silly but we are still friends. I tried convincing some of them and failed, others agreed and “converted”. The obstinate ones I have given up on. I am still friends with them though.

There is a civility/courtesy, call it what you will, that we owe each other as civilized beings. And our political disagreements should never come in the way of that.

John,

I don’t dispute that you have been abused at times by some commenters. But you have also had thoughtful, cogent, extremely coherent responses from a vaeriety of bloggers/commenters. This is what makes this place different from the liberal blogosphere. There is substance in the argument. Liberals screech “racist” the moment they start losing. Big difference.

Phil P.-I don’t know about you;I was always taught to distrust a “reformed"drinker ,prostitute,or “born-again Christian"When did you stop beating your wife ?Only joking-but acquiesence is just another form of self-flagellation.  “I YAM WHO I YAM”-Popeye/1937. Cheers!

Speaking of alcohol, I was never a big beer drinker. I liked beer but in more limited quanitities than is the norm in our nation’s pubs.

I always liked Scotch I must confess (and the more expensive the better). But good Wine was always the best thing there was.

Good to read all those comments.

I of course am delighted to acknowledge the great contributions from Fred.  He and I have written to one-another directly on occasions and always in the warmest of terms.

“How like a Jew”.  If the writer of that comment thinks I am Jewish, he could not be more wrong.

I have some good news for Phil.  In my younger days, the women in my life were almost all Left-leaning.  By the time you get into the 50+ age bracket, however, they are almost all conservative.  And if you think 50+ people don’t have a lot of fun, think again

I noticed a bit of grouching above about my description of certain views as “very deviant”.  They are, you know.  I was just being factual there, not judgmental.

Curious how far down the bottle of Johnny Walker you are when you change into an expert on Peak Oil? How painted do you have to be to go from psychometrician to geologist and expert on the world’s oil resources, skewering nutters, aka peak oil freaks, like Ken Deffeyes, and Colin Campbell.

Is that why you think ethanol is going to be our salvation?

Just cos Johnny Walker puts the spark back into you doesn’t mean it’s going to run the world’s auto fleet. Haha

Hehe, my drink of choice.  I love the container the bottle comes in too, use ‘em to store rice.

Yep.  “Abnormal” is another accurate term, despite the similar baggage.

A MajorityRights newspaper or a radio/TV network would be really popular because the white audience would feel that they are reading and listening to real people who treat them as adults as opposed to all the poseurs and the whores in the mainstream news & opinion industry. We would beat the competition.

Thank you, John.

Well she isn’t really a leftist. She’s actually quite apolitical - we’ve never actually discussed politics much. But she does have a weakness for the all the “racism”, “multiculturalism”, “diversity” pap that the media keeps spewing out. All women (and even most men these days) have a weakness for that stuff.

I think most women change their political orientation after they get married and have children. Sailer’s “Baby Gap” article proved it. However, Im not quite on board with Winston Churchill’s quote: “If you are not a socialist by the time you are 25, you have no heart. If you are still a socialist by the time you are 35, you have no brain”. wink

Surely a Presbyterian should be drinking Ulster’s finest, the very wonderful Black Bush. Even if it is owned now by a tedious multinational.
